Biscayne National Park

With outer reefs like Half Moon and Emerald Reef, snorkelers can have an opportunity to view tropical fish as well as sea turtles and stingrays. Other options in Biscayne National Park include Crandon Park (Key Biscayne) and Bear Cut Preserve. It’s not uncommon to see bottle dolphins and manatees. There are several guided tour options for snorkeling and kayaking which range from $40 to $70 per person. One of the top spots for snorkeling in the South Beach Miami area.

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

Located in the Upper Keys in Key Largo, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was the first underwater park in the United States. A Florida State Park, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, John Pennekamp offers nearly 70 nautical square miles for you to explore. With coral reefs and a wide array of marine life, a visit to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park makes a great day trip for snorkelers of all stripes. All-inclusive snorkeling excursions cost $75 per person.

Tarpoon Lagoon Diving Center

A popular spot for snorkeling in Miami Beach, Tarpoon Lagoon Diving Center offers both scuba diving and snorkeling excursions. For $80 per person, you’ll visit Emerald Reef, Rainbow Reef, and the Half Moon Underwater Archaeological Preserve, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Half Moon, a sunken 360-ton steel schooner.

Vista Park Reef

If you’re new to snorkeling, Vista Park Reef is the perfect spot. Located approximately 75 yards off North Fort Lauderdale, the reef is easy to get to and rewards visitors with the chance to view snapper, grunts, damselfish, spadefish, soft corals, and more. You’ll have to swim out to the reef where the water is fairly shallow, from 10 to 18 feet deep.
